,Walking In Beauty

The greatest gift: My mother gave me, is the Gift of Beauty and Creation. She taught me that as a Woman, I was in partnership with the Creator to help create Beauty and to be a Life Giver.

I was taught to give Beauty to all my creations. Whether it be my own children, grand-children. a dress, jewelry, or whatever my imagination desired to create; this is my stewardship.

I am of the Living Arrow Clan. We are the Dog Soldiers/Warriors of our people. We are outspoken, aggressive, we speak our minds. We are protector of Righteousness.

My Daily Motto:

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, " Oh Crap!!! She 's UP!!"

Peter Morgan- Squash Blossom - Part 2

This is an order put in by Peter Morgan for his wife, Michelle Morgan.  December 2011.
In ordering a project like this, there is a lot of time involvement so orders need to be given a couple of months from start to finish.
Living in Utah and being Silversmithers has always been a challenge because of limited access to supplies needed.  Then the cost factory is always higher here.
Making personalized orders are always difficult in trying to get a good idea as to finding exactly what your customer wants.  Since, Peter is my brother, I could tell him to back off and let the talent flow and not to tell me, my business.  LOL
I have tried to take step by step progress with the camera so I will input more as we go on toward the finalizing of this necklace.
First question was how much was Peter willing to put into having a personalized Squash Blossom Necklace handmade.  Which gives us an idea of the silver gauge needed, time involvement for production, quality of gem stones needed  etc. etc.   Bilagaana, Peter wanted a larger turquoise then seen in the picture.  We had to talk him down to a smaller size to help it to be more elegant for a lady, like Michelle. It helps a lot to know your customers personally.
As mentioned before as to non-access to supplies, I had to give my brother, Perry Bahe Yazzie a call down on the Navajo Rez. so he could go and get what we needed and mail it up quickly as possible.   Ordering supplies on line or phone is a joke....Navajos doing business over the phone is like asking for a lot of trouble (War Party Time!!)...they will always send you the wrong things.  So, Perry did our foot work for us since he is a Silversmither himself,.  I have all my confidence in him, he knows exactly what we needed and knows quality.  And yes, he has to be paid for his services, time and gas. Usually, we would take regular trips to Arizona for supplies and keep well stocked but the economy has affected business in this area of our life so we have had to cut back.
So before you order study out what you are wanting and the financing limit.  Especially if you want it made with specifics and not buying a ready made one.  There are a lot of different kinds of turquoise stone names out there.   This is the end of round one.
